It certainly is! Joy is the front end AI agent of Specialty Answering Service, a live operator telephone answering service. If you are looking for live operators only without any AI, simply configure this in your portal.
Plans and Pricing
If Joy can't handle a call and it is transferred to a live agent, am I double billed?
No! If Joy can’t process a call for any reason, we’ll automatically escalate that call to a live agent. When that happens, any time the AI answering service accrued while attempting to process the call is wiped out. To shorten the live operator interaction, we also send any data collected by Joy to the agent so the caller doesn’t need to repeat themselves!
Can Joy handle a large volume of calls?
Yes, Joy is designed to scale with your business needs, handling anywhere from 100 to millions of daily calls. There is no limit to the number of concurrent calls your business can receive with Joy on any plan.
What happens if I exceed my call limit?
The pricing plans for Joy are the same as the live operator plans under Specialty Answering Service. If you exceed your call limit, you are billed for any overage on your upcoming invoice. If you’re on a budget, you can set billing alerts in your portal letting you know when you’ve exceeded the per minute allowance on your current plan, and when it’s time to upgrade to the next plan.
Are there any setup fees or long-term contracts for Joy?

Will Joy notify me of new calls?
Yes! Joy can send notifications via email or text for new calls, allowing you to prioritize follow-ups. If you’re accustomed to being notified by third party services, like your CRM or helpdesk, you can configure Joy to send information right to your app.
Are transcripts available or just recordings?
If a call is processed through Joy, the transcript is always available and included with your plan. For calls passed to a live operator, transcripts are a premium service and can be added on to any account.
Can I listen to call recordings?
Yes, all calls are logged and available for review in your Flex portal. In addition, you’ll have access to all of the details that were captured on the call.

Will my callers know they are talking to an AI?
AI voices are always evolving, and we’re committed to always using the latest voices available to get Joy as close to mimicking human-like interactions. Most callers are comfortable interacting with AI when transparency is maintained. If they’re not, callers can ask to be transferred to a live agent anytime by using any hardcoded keywords we’ve already built into our system, like “Operator” or “Live Person”.
How secure is my data with Joy?
Joy is built on AWS and Twilio with industry-leading security and complies with HIPAA standards, ensuring your data is protected with the highest levels of privacy and security.
