How does Joy work?
Joy is an AI-powered virtual agent that greets callers like a human receptionist. It instantly starts following your pre-programmed workflow, answers common questions, and forwards calls to a human when needed.
If the AI virtual agent gets tripped up and can’t move forward in your script to complete the call, a live operator will step in to complete the transaction.
How is my AI agent trained?
Joy is trained on reading your FAQs, business information, and by following the workflow you create. Simply program your call script through our drag-and-drop editor, provide information about your business in the form of FAQs and business hours, and Joy navigates your call flow just like a human would.
Can the AI agent follow a script?
Yes. Joy is exclusively trained to follow the custom workflow you provide ensuring we’re asking the questions you want answered and logging consistent and accurate information about the call.

To experience our AI answering service, click the Free Trial button above to start a trial account. You’ll be able to configure both Joy AI and how our live operators answer your calls. If you like what you hear, you’ll have the option to sign up for a monthly plan after your trial.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards.
Are there any additional usage charges?
No, Joy includes call recording, transcription, and message-taking at no extra cost. However, add-ons are available for live operator plans.
Do I have to enter my credit card details to sign up?
No, Joy offers a free 14-day trial with no credit card required. After the trial, you can choose a plan and provide payment information.
Plans and Pricing
How does Joy's pricing work?
Joy offers multiple plans to fit different business sizes and call volumes. Plans are all month-to-month, and you can upgrade or downgrade at any time.
Are there annual plans?
No, we do not offer any annual plans or discounts for annual payments.
How does the free trial work?
We give you 14 days to access Joy and all standard live operator features. You can choose a plan at any time during the trial and continue using your setup seamlessly.
What happens after the trial ends?
Your data and setup will remain intact, and you can select a plan to purchase and continue using Joy. if you don’t provide payment information, your service will end and you will not be billed.
How long are your contracts? Can I upgrade or downgrade my subscription?
Contracts are strictly month-to-month options. You can start, stop, or change your plan at any time. Note that refunds are not given for cancellations or downgrades.
What happens if I go over my plan's included minutes?
If you exceed your monthly minutes, we’ll continue to work at an overage rate. To keep your AI receptionist in budget, you can create billing alerts in your portal to let you know when you’ve gone over your plan allowance, and when you should save money by upgrading to the next plan.
Why do you bill by the minute?
Joy bills by the minute to align with your budget and your success. Usage is billed down to the second, ensuring transparent pricing without hidden fees.
Is there a setup fee?
No, there is no setup fee. Onboarding services are complimentary.
Why is Joy more expensive than competitors?
Joy provides premium features, including human backup for complex queries, lead qualification, and advanced AI capabilities and reasoning, ensuring reliable and high-quality service. The price for Joy interactions are the same price for live operator interactions.

How does the setup process work?
Setting up Joy takes just a few minutes. Quickly develop your workflow, choose a voice for your workflow by adjusting the option in your numbers configuration, provide details about your business, and set up call handling preferences including if you want AI to be the front end to handle calls, or you would prefer those calls drop right to a live agent.
How long does it take to set up?
Setup is quick and easy. You can either create a custom workflow or choose from an existing template, add a few FAQs, and you’re ready for AI to start answering your calls! You can go live in minutes.
Can I get help setting up Joy?
Yes, our support team is available to assist with setup and answer any questions along the way.
Can I start using Joy for after-hours and overflow calls only?
Absolutely. You can configure Joy to handle calls during specific hours or for overflow situations. Our service is always available, active, and present 24/7 for you to use as much or as little as you need.
How do I provide feedback or customize Joy?
You can edit and add FAQs and adjust your workflow within your Flex portal, or contact our support team for help.
Call Management and Features
What phone number will I use?
Every plan includes a dedicated phone number. You’ll use this number to forward your calls to from your existing business number.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
Yes. We don’t accept ported numbers or number transfers. Simply forward your phone traffic to the phone number we provide to start using your AI agent.
How will I know when Joy answers a call?
You will receive instant notifications via email or text. Log into your portal for more details including the call recording and the transcript.
What happens if Joy can't complete a call?
If Joy can’t answer a question or complete a call for any reason, it will forward the call to a human answering service agent. In addition, if a user hangs up while talking to Joy, a human agent will automatically call the customer back. You are not billed for incomplete calls.
Can Joy handle calls for multiple locations?
Yes, Joy supports multiple agents with multiple voices and workflows, making it easy to manage calls for different business locations.
Can the AI agent transfer calls?
Yes, Joy can transfer calls to another number or transfer calls to an answering service agent, ensuring seamless customer service.
Can Joy escalate to a human agent?
Yes, Joy automatically escalates complex inquiries to live agents when needed if a transaction can’t be completed or if the caller uses certain trigger words like “customer service” or “live help”.
Can Joy follow a custom script?
Yes, you can provide customized scripts for Joy to follow.
Does Joy support call recording and transcription?
Yes, Joy records and transcribes all calls, which are accessible in your dashboard. Recording and transcription from Joy are free services, however, transcription is a paid add on when using live agents.
Can I access call history and recordings?
Yes, all call data is logged and available for review within your Joy account. Call recordings are available for 60 days before they are purged.
Can I customize notifications?
Yes, you can set up email and text notifications for new calls or important updates.
